What is empowerment?

According to Robert Kreitner and Angelo Kinicki, authors of Organizational Behavior, empowerment consists of "sharing degrees of power with lower-level employees to better serve the customer."

It is, according to Susan M. HeathField in Empowerment in Action: How to Empower Your Employees, “to enable or authorize an individual to think, behave, act and control their work and make decisions about it autonomously, independent and self-directed ”.

The advantages of empowerment are multiple:

Trust.

Empowering others supposes an injection of self-esteem and confidence in professionals, who feel the support and backing of the organization.

Responsibility.

Having the power to make decisions makes employees more responsible for their actions, seeking alternatives that benefit the company.

Agility.

By not having to wait for orders from their superiors, employees can resolve issues more quickly and flexibly, resulting in a more effective response.

Creativity.
The fact that the company values and promotes the initiatives of the workers contributes to the staff being more innovative and coming up with creative ideas
